Tommasa Sottile

Tommasa Sottile of Brewster passed away on Nov. 16. 2020. Tommasa was born in Barcelona Sicily in Italy on Feb. 14, 1938 to Vincenzo & Francesca Pirri. Tommasa tells the story of when her family fed the American troops wine and vegetables from their garden during World War II. Tommasa came to the United States with her family at the age of 12 in December of 1950. In November of 1958 she married Carmelo Sottile. She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Queens until her retirement in 1994 after 23 years of service. Tommasa has many nicknames including Marcy, Massina, & Thomasina. Her favorite opera was Madama Butterfly. Tommasa enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. There was always a feast at her house during the holidays and we could always count on her to make her famous biscotti. She has a kind and giving heart. She will be missed. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie (81) and her daughter Roseann Blum (Passed away on July 1, 2020, she was 60). Survived by her son Anthony, his wife Doreen, son in-law Jeff Blum, brother & sister-in-law Carmelo & Jo Anna Pirri and 5 grandchildren Kristen, Mark, Michael, Allison and Melissa.
