Therese Mulligan
June 16, 1958 - April 21, 2022
Therese Mulligan (nee McAllister) formerly from the Bronx passed on April 21 at the Yorktown Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cortlandt Manor after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia. Therese was predeceased by her parents Thomas McAllister and Anne McAllister (nee Manley). Born in the Bronx Therese was a stay at home Mom, devoted to the care of her son Brian, until she returned to school in her 40s to become a teacher. She attended Lehman College where she not only excelled academically, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, but was also recruited to the woman's basketball team, an experience she enjoyed immensely. She was awarded a Master's degree from Mercy College and became a high school health teacher in the Bronx until her retirement in 2014. She was active in the community and totally devoted to the care of her son Brian. They were a noted duo in the neighborhood where Brian had smiles for all he came in contact with. Therese overcame so many obstacles in life and still remained remarkably optimistic. She has been missed by many as her health declined. Therese is survived by her two sons William Jr and Brian as well as her sister Annemarie (Tom), brothers Thomas (Anne), Timothy (Terri), Terence (Maureen), and Neal, and many nieces and nephews. Toward the end of her life Therese was well cared for at both the Seabury Memory Care Unit and Yorktown Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (formerly the Field home). The staff at both facilities are exemplary and cannot be thanked enough. Visitation is at the Yorktown Funeral Home Monday, April 25, 2022 4pm - 8pm Mass of the Christian Burial Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Shrub Oak, NY Tuesday, April 26 11:15am
