    Rosalie Rabbitt

    July 21, 1931 - January 27, 2022

Rosalie G. Rabbitt entered into eternal life on January 27, 2022. Lolly, as she was affectionately known, was born in the Bronx on July 21, 1931. She was proud of her Bronx upbringing and enjoyed sharing her childhood memories of growing up on Hughes Avenue. Her Irish descent Mother, Susan Barron, and French descent Father, Leopold Grandsire, were next door neighbors and eventually married, as did Susan's sister, Aunt Mamie and Leopold's brother, Uncle Vic. There was family all around 2540 and 2538 Hughes Avenue for most of Lolly's life and it warmed her heart. This early appreciation of family helped shape Lolly into the wonderful and loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother that she was. Lolly would do anything for her "boys", despite the chaos that reigned in a 2 bedroom Bronx apartment with 4 sons and a husband to manage. Her great sense of humor grounded her and defined her personality. A devout Catholic, her faith was very important to her. She watched Sunday Mass on TV and read the Bible. She was most proud that she could recite almost anything from the Baltimore Catechism. She was predeceased by her husband, John, and her first born son, John. She is survived by her son, Raymond and his wife, Lisa; her son, Michael and his wife, Diane; her son, Thomas; her granddaughters, Ashley and Kerri; her grandson, Michael; and her sister, Jacqueline and brother-in-law, Zachary. She was predeceased by her Sister, Anna and brother in law, Mack; her brother, Paul and sister-in-law, Mary; and her sister, Susan and brother-in-law, William. Additionally she is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 2 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Shrub Oak, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at komen.org. "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. Look for me in your mind's eye Though details will fade As time does surely go by Recall each memory that we made"
