Kenneth Roberts Meiselbach entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 15th at the Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 94. The son of Frederick and Rebecca Roberts Meiselbach, he was born on May 17th, 1926 in Mount Vernon, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of over 66 years, Myrtle Lerch Meiselbach. A proud veteran, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and was in the Pacific fleet during World War II aboard the USS Massachusetts, the USS Indiana, and the USS Alabama. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Upon returning from the war, he graduated from Edison High School in Mount Vernon and was later employed by the Equitable Life Assurance Society in New York City, where he worked for 37 years until retirement. Ken and Myrt married on Oct 1, 1949, and built a home on Dane Street in Shrub Oak in 1956 to raise their family. They lived many happy years there until her passing in 2016. He was a 70+ year member of the Free Masons, Hiawatha Chapter #434 and was a parishioner of the United Methodist Church, in both Shrub Oak and Maybrook, NY. He did not need a lot to be happy; he enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time at the ocean, fishing, Yankees baseball, a good card trick and a good joke. More than anything, he loved his family. He had a quiet resolve that was unfailing; he asked for nothing, expected nothing. His strong faith in Jesus Christ saw him through every day of his 94 years. Kenneth is survived by his loving son, Clifford Meiselbach and his wife Elizabeth of Fairfield CT, and devoted daughter Jayne Lucas and her husband John of Campbell Hall NY. He was admired and adored by five grandchildren; Greg, Aden, Mark, Valerie, and Cassidy. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and many neighbors and friends from his years in Shrub Oak, as well as more recent friendships made during his stay at Braemar Living at Wallkill. . Services will be held at the Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 East Main St, Shrub Oak NY 10588. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19 from 3-7 pm, with a Masonic Service at 6:30pm. Pastor Virginia Esposito will officiate at the funeral home on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the United Methodist Church, in either Shrub Oak or Maybrook, NY.
