Kathryn Irish

January 10, 1929 - April 9, 2022

Kathryn ("Kitty") Irish died peacefully in her home on April 9, 2022 following her battle with colon cancer. She was 93. Kitty was the sixth of eight children born to Joseph and Vincenza DeMilia. She grew up in Mt. Vernon, NY and lived most of her life at her home in Yonkers before moving to Jefferson Village nine years ago. In May of 1950, Kitty married Elwood Irish, who would be her adoring husband for 62 years before he departed this world. They had three sons, all of whom are married, and two grandchildren. Elwood and Kitty traveled extensively within the United States, Europe and Canada. Professionally, Kitty worked as an Executive Assistant at General Foods after her sons had grown. After retiring, she served as a docent leading tours of the company's headquarters, describing its art and quilt collections to visitors. Kathryn Irish is survived by her sister, Lorraine Joyce, her sons James (Andrea), Bruce (Gina and grandson Jack), and Donald (Mary and granddaughter Katie).
