Karen Stenner Beaumont died unexpectedly but peacefully on March 14, 2020 at the age of 88. She was surrounded by many loving family members. Karen is survived by her brother, William Stenner and his wife Janet, of Newark, DE. and her 4 children, Donald L. Beaumont and his wife Ellen of Everette, WA, Gary A Beaumont and his wife, Jeannine of Fishkill, NY, Beverly Thornton and her husband Clinton, of Cortlandt Manor, NY and Carol Schoen and her husband Werner, of Flanders NJ., and is survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Karen is predeceased by her dearly loved husband, Donald L Beaumont, Sr. Karen was born on Nov,13, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She married Donald Beaumont in 1950 and enjoyed more than 65 years together. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle, and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Karen was an accomplished RN, BSN and worked as a visiting nurse in Westchester for over 25 years. She was a dedicated individual who enjoyed helping and teaching others. She, along with her husband, Donald were NY State EMT instructors for many years, and taught over a thousand of our areas EMTs and Paramedics. Karen was a Lifetime Member of Lake Mohegan Fire Department, first as a member of the Lake Mohegan women's auxiliary, then proudly became the first female firefighter of the dept. She was an EMT and driver for Mohegan Volunteer Ambulance Corp for many years. She was also an EMT and driver for Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Karen was also passionate about Girl Scouts. She was a Lifetime member of the GSUSA. She was a master trainer and taught thousands of leaders many skills. She was a member of Heart of the Hudson Girl Scout Museum, very dedicated in working with archives, and a proud member of The Green Hat Society. She served as President of the Taconic Girls Scout for many years. She was a member of Putnam Valleys garden club and the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted member of Shrub Oak Methodist Church for over 50 years. She had many things in this life that made her happy, family, friends, flowers, and her cat, Tiger. She was a dedicated individual who loved helping and teaching others. Her wake is schuelded for Tuesday, March 17 from 4pm-8pm, at The Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak, with a short graveside service on Wednesday, March 18th at 11am, at Shrub Oak Methodist Church in Shrub Oak. We invite any who wish to join us for either service, however we fully understand concerns surrounding the current Novel Coronavirus COVID-19, and your personal health and wellbeing is important to us. Circumstances prevent many of our closest family members from traveling to attend, therefore we plan to hold a memorial event when travel and public gatherings are again safe. We'll be sure to share information about that when we can. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lake Mohegan Volunteer Fire Dept.
