John Veteri Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Veteri of Carmel, NY passed away on March 11, 2022. He was born in Mt. Vernon on May 4, 1959 to Louis and Anne Veteri. John graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1977 and went on to Iona College until 1981. He married Patti Scauzillo at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains NY in 1982. They have two children John Jr. and Lauren. John became a Mt. Vernon Fireman in 1986. In 1989 he continued his career in Larchmont Fire Department, where he later retired as lieutenant in 2010. John was part of the rescue efforts at FDNY Box 5-5-87 on September 11th, 2001. John was an avid golfer and a devoted Jets Fan as a season ticket holder since the age of 19. He enjoyed his retirement doing what he loved, golfing, tailgating every Jets home game, attending many concerts, and most importantly spending his time with family and friends. John is survived by his wife Patti, son John (Julie), daughter Lauren, grandchildren Cristiana, Nicholas, Lucas, brothers Louis and Steven (Anna), brother-in-law Peter (Susan), nieces Samantha, Gabrielle, and nephew Steven. He is predeceased by his parents Louis and Anne Veteri, in-laws Pete and Sadie Scauzillo, and brother-in-law Stevie. John's family would like to thank the amazing nursing staff and doctors at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City who were so caring and thorough throughout his hospitalization. Family and friends will honor John's life at the Yorktown Funeral Home on Monday March 14, 2022 form 4 to 9pm and Tuesday March 15 from 1 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Blythedale Children's Hospital where John volunteered his time coordinating the holiday children's toy drive.
