    Audrey Nichols

    September 10, 1951 - March 1, 2022

Audrey Von Nichols, the daughter of Lena Mae Diggs and Thomas Sturdivant was born September 10, 1951, in Anson County N.C. She attended schools in Richmond Country and graduated from Hamlet High School in Hamlet North Carolina. After graduation, she followed her dreams and headed to New York where she always wanted to live. She met Miles Nichols at a bowling alley in White Plains, NY (She beat him at bowling). Shortlyafter meeting they got married on June 10, 1973, and started a family in Ossining, NY. Beautiful both inside and out, she always wanted to make those around her feel at their best, so she decided to enroll in Empire Beauty School in Peekskill Where she learned to become a cosmetologist. She had a passion for fashion and always loved to dress in the latest styles and she donned hairstyles most wouldn't dare attempt. To be frank she was sassy, determined, and full of life, known for cracking jokes as well as creating waves. She loved raising her girls and enjoyed being around children. After her children grew up she went into childcare and became a nanny. She looked after and loved many children. She said that "kept her young" and it did. She had a youthful appearance, was always full of energy, and was always ready to "go". Audrey was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved life, she loved those that were in her life and had her own special way of showing it "Air Hugs" She was a devout Christian that enjoyed going to church, traveling, going to the beach, watching westerns, bowling, cooking, sewing, crochet, an avid reader, writing, eating ice cream and her favorite color GREEN. Audrey is survived by her 2 loving children, April Nichols of Waterbury, CT, And Nicole Brownstein (Ian) of Yorktown Heights, NY. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her grandson Zion Nichols of Waterbury, CT. Her sisters, Edna Maddox, Willie Francis Liles Horsley, Lana Kitt, and her Brother, Robbie Sturdivant. Her Uncle Henry Pratt. Nephews: Bobby Maddox Jr. and Jaylon Sturdivant. Nieces: Toni Maddox, MexSheila Watkins (Johnie), Sandra Maddox, Bonnie Maddox, Teresa Kitt Terhune (Richard), Lena Horsley, and Natasha Kitt Icaro (John), along with a loving host of great-nephews, great-nieces, and extended family and friends from many places. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Frontis and Cora Diggs, Jerry Tilghman and Area Pratt, her Parents Thomas Sturdivant and Lena Mae Diggs, her Husband Miles Nichols, her Niece Icesonnia Horsley, and her Nephew Coray Kidd. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME!
