It is with great sadness we share the passing of Arthur Valentino Macchia who passed away January 30th, 2021 at the age of 85. Arthur was born February 15th, 1935 to Nicholas and Anna Macchia in New York, NY. Arthur was one of seven children and is survived by his brother Tony and sister Francis, deceased by brothers Robert and Angelo and his sisters Letiz, Christina and Mary. Arthur “Artie” Macchia grew up in East Harlem where his father worked as a tailor. Artie had many skills and talents earning him the name “Mr. Fix It”. He worked for American Airlines for 45 years retiring in 1990. Artie was married to his wife Irene on February 12, 1956 and they were married for 54 years until her passing in 2011. Artie loved Irene dearly and his love for Irene and devotion to her was inspiring to all. Artie and Irene went on to raise their three children Donna, Artie and Robert living in The Bronx, Long Island and eventually Yorktown Heights, NY. Artie and Irene would later spend time as ‘snow birds’ in Daytona and Ft. Myers, Florida. Artie thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and riding his motorcycle. An incredibly friendly and social man, Artie was well known everywhere he went especially at Turco’s Market in Yorktown Heights and the Jefferson Valley Mall. Artie was a devout Catholic and attended mass and volunteered at Church. Artie was an incredibly fun-loving man who enjoyed card games and dancing. Artie loved to talk and get to know you and share and tell stories. His friendliness, kindness and humor were one of a kind and he will be sorely missed. Artie is survived by his three children Donna, Artie and Robert and his seven grandchildren Robin, Angie, Nicole, Christina, Alyssa, Natalie and Arturo. Artie is also survived by his three great grandchildren Cameron & Kaitlyn and Daria and an unborn great grandson.
